Mentorship Program
Overview
The China field has a diversity problem: Black China professionals are underrepresented at every level, across think tanks, media outlets, the foreign service, and corporations. The BCC strives to increase the pipeline for Black China professionals by creating resources geared towards students and early career professionals. Therefore, the BCC has partnered with senior professionals in the China space who are interested in coaching and mentoring Black students and professionals and increase the visibility of Black professionals in the China space.
Details
The BCC Mentoring program establishes mentorship opportunities for Black undergraduate and graduate students, early- and mid-career professionals, or those with equivalent experience. Mentees are matched with experts who work in the China field for one-on-one career mentorship. The program seeks senior-level professionals at think tanks, in academia, in government, in NGOs, and in corporations to serve as mentors. The program prepares participants for a formal mentorship period of one year with the hope that this program can lead to a longer-lasting professional relationship.
