Cameryn Burnette
Cameryn Burnette is a Schwarzman Scholar studying Global Leadership at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She graduated with her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the illustrious Howard University. While a Howard student, Cameryn co-founded the Howard University Water Environment Association, the school’s largest sustainability org, and served as a youth mentor through the university chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
Cameryn’s career focus is improving the physical, environmental, and social health of communities through engineering research. While at Tsinghua, Cameryn is exploring China-Africa cooperation and the application of the Beijing development model in other Global South nations. Her long-term career goals include finding an intersectional approach to infrastructure design that combines technical expertise with cultural cognizance. Before heading to China, she worked for a solar microgrid startup in Benin to create energy ecosystems in off-grid communities. Cameryn is a member of the National Association for Black Engagement with Asia, a Karsh STEM Scholar, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
